Internet of Things & Artificial Intelligence

Internet of Things & Artificial Intelligence into medical instrumentation and medical devices

We are hardly working to introduce the “IoT” (Internet of Things) paradigm and the most advanced “AI” (Artificial Intelligence) techniques into medical instrumentation and medical devices.

MACS strongly believe that this will improve patient and clinician experience by:

  • reducing the probability of human error or incident.
  • increasing the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and reducing the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) of medical devices with the use of predictive algorithms.

MACS is strongly committed to studies and projects in digital innovation and automation of medical devices, following a few precise guidelines: automation, innovation, digitalization, personalized and connected medicine.

Why “IoT” is important?

“IoT” is becoming one of the most important technologies of the last century; we can apply “IoT” technology in several sectors: from kitchen appliances to medical devices.

Through “IoT”, we can embed affordable and reliable sensors inside different objects, connecting them to cloud platforms, to check their performance. Thanks to this technology Medicians and Engineers, can share and collect data in real-time, with minimal human intervention.

In this new era, in which everybody is connected, MACS desires to become an innovative player, sharing and managing the information in a faster and more effective way.

What about “AI”?

Artificial intelligence “AI” is a paradigm that refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions.

An artificially-intelligent system is a system that can learn on its own; it is an advanced machine learning software able to analyze data to take those actions that have the best probabilities to achieve a specific goal.

The modern AI systems are based on behavioral algorithms, which can adapt themselves, improving their skills, giving us the information we are looking for.

AI can automate every task, process, and analyze a huge amount of data:

  • AI supports productivity: updates information and coordinates schedules.
  • AI helps with decision making: pulls analysis for rolling out new products, solves customer service issues.
  • AI increases accuracy: humans naturally make errors in their works, AI has the potential to be virtually error-free.

In the medical space, AI is being used to diagnose diseases with nearly 100.
